Job description
As an engineer specializing in the telecommunications sector, you will play a crucial role in handling patent applications for our esteemed clientele. Your responsibilities will include:
Patent Application Management: Filing and prosecuting patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the European Patent Office (EPO) or the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) in the field of telecommunications.
Patent Drafting: Drafting patent applications in English to ensure comprehensive and robust protection of our clients’ inventions in various jurisdictions.
Claim Review: Reviewing claim amendments upon national entry into the US, Europe and other jurisdictions in the field of telecommunications.
Office Action Responses: Strategically crafting responses to Office Actions issued by the USPTO and/or EPO as well as other patent offices (mainly JPO and IPO) to overcome rejections and obtain favorable outcomes for our clients’ patent applications.
Patent Portfolio Development: Collaborating with inventors and clients to identify and protect valuable intellectual property within the telecommunications industry.
IP Strategy Development: Assisting in the formulation and implementation of effective IP strategies to ensure maximum protection for our clients’ innovations.
Studying: Staying updated with the latest developments in patent laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to the team.
Job requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
Educational Background: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, communication engineering, or Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited institution. Advanced degrees and relevant certifications are a plus.
Professional Experience: At least two years of practical experience in the field of intellectual property, specifically working with patent applications related to telecommunications. Experience with USPTO and/or EPO is highly desirable.
Certification: Being a certified US Patent Attorney, US Patent Agent or European Patent Attorney is a plus.
Technical Proficiency: Strong technical knowledge in the fields of telecommunications, networking, wireless technologies, and related areas.
Legal Expertise: Thorough understanding of patent laws and regulations, with the ability to apply legal principles to protect and enforce patents effectively.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical or legal concepts clearly and persuasively.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex legal and technical issues.
Language Skills: Advanced reading skills in technical English are required. Japanese or Chinese language skills are considered a plus.

Hours
Full flextime system (no core hours; standard working hours 7.5 hours per day)
Holidays
2 days off per week (Saturday and Sunday), National holidays, December 29 - January 3 Annual paid leave (10-25 days/year), Congratulation or condolence leave, Long service leave, Hourly paid leave, etc.
Salary
Preferential treatment according to company regulations based on ability and experience, Bonus: Twice a year (June and November), Salary increase: once a year
