Born and raised in Japan, Jacobus SONDERHOFF completed his university education in London (physics), then moved to Munich to work for a large industrial corporation first as a development engineer and then as a patent engineer, followed by his independent work for European patent law firms and industry. In 2009, he continued his career at a patent law firm in Tokyo as a technical advisor and project manager in the electrical engineering section, then as an account manager in the marketing section. From 2016 to 2019 he worked at a Zurich-based patent law firm and strengthened his skills in European patent practice and in business development with a focus on Asia. He then returned to Japan to work as a technical advisor, technical translator, and business development associate at a patent law firm in Tokyo. Jacobus joined us in December 2023. He is a European Patent Attorney by EQE qualification and speaks German, English, Japanese and French.
